“Take Me” - Monobloc
Loving this new track from NYC’s Monobloc. “Take Me” is in and out in a quick 2:41, but just like the best of those short Strokes tracks from Is This It, they come in, grab you with a hook, then check out so you’re left wanting more.
With vocals reminiscent Ian Curtis (Joy Division), Timothy Waldron could easily croon some jazz with his warm vocals, but instead, here he brings out the qualities of New York in the 2020s, which is a little bit safe/ a little bit dirty/ a little bit edgy/ a little bit polished.
I’m hoping Monobloc helps to shepherd in a new era of rock for the struggling NYC music scene that was so inspiring in the ‘00s, but is now grasping to find a new identity.
